explainroo 0.4.1: labels stay whole, fewer empty close-ups

Version 0.4.1

explainroo 0.4.1 fixes three things about how the camera frames a scene.

Labels stay whole

An arrow’s label could be cut off in a close-up, so “asks for the page” showed as “age”. It now stays whole while the shot holds. A chart’s labels, values and axis ends stay with the chart, so a close-up next to a chart no longer shows a few of its numbers on their own.

Fewer close-ups of icons and empty boxes

When an icon without a label already fits the shot, the camera no longer moves in on it. The same goes for a box without words. Up close they show nothing new, and the frame around them stays empty. s.focus still asks for a close-up of anything. See how the camera works.

Short scenes

Near the end of each scene the camera pulls back, so the last frame shows the whole idea. A short scene has no time for that. Its last camera move now shows the whole picture instead. Close-ups of code, terminal commands and areas chosen with s.focus can still end a scene.

Also new

If the browser page that draws the video loads without its scripts, explainroo now tries once more. AGENTS.md, the guide your coding agent reads, has four layouts to start from and four questions for planning each scene.

The videos on this site now use the updated camera. The release notes are on GitHub.
